Filling in the gap...probably the first of many posts with this same title :)

I am really great at keeping up with this blog…as you can tell.  Last entry: January something.  Today it is May 30th.  Just a few months have passed.  Ha!
The past months have been busy ones.  Just life going on.  Home school, mission trip planning and fundraising, etc…  But I do want to try to keep this somewhat updated.  So, I thought I might fill in the gap here by writing about what has been going on since the last post.

We went to missionary orientation at Global Outreach just outside of Tupelo, Mississippi in February.  It was wonderful!  Learned a lot and met some great people who will soon be embarking on their mission fields in Zambia, Japan, and an undisclosed location.  And we got to get to know the Global Outreach home office staff as well.

On the home front:
We have finished up home school for the year.  All I am going to say is Praise. The. Lord!  We learned a lot and had some fun times at our co-op and going on field trips!
And I have curriculum for next year picked out which is a huge deal for me.

E with some of her art from the year at our home school co-op art show.

Field trip to the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art.

Fun time with friends at co-op field day.  (R was sick and didn't get to go.)
A great field trip to the Breadsmith to learn about making bread.

The girls participated in 4-H shooting.  I must say they are pretty good for beginners.  It was a great start to learning about using a gun safely.

We got to see family we haven’t seen in a long time.  Unfortunately it was due to my uncle’s passing, but he is having a way better time right now than we are.  The girls got to see where my mom grew up in the Mississippi Delta.  We took a tour one afternoon of the big city of Leland – saw where she went to school, church, and the houses she lived in.  We also saw the creek that inspired Jim Henson to create Kermit the Frog!  And of course we took a peek at the Mississippi River.

The girls and I went to Mother Daughter Camp at Camp Garaywa.  It was a super fun weekend with other moms and daughters from our church and all over the state of Mississippi.  We learned about missions and different cultures, played games and sang silly songs.  They really loved it and E will be going back for summer camp!  R is going to little kid’s camp with our church.

And Renan got to take the girls to the Father Daughter Tea Party at church.  They had fun eating and dancing and being with friends!  They even got to meet some special celebrity guests!

Renan has just been working, working, working. And then working some more!  He is blessed to have a job he loves and to be able to work for a great Christian man.
And because of all his working I have been busy at home planning for our first official Global Outreach mission trip!  We will be going in July to Buenos Aires, Honduras which is Renan’s hometown.  We have a great team going with us again this year.  While there with the team we will be working on finishing a home for a single mother of four as well as hosting a kid’s Bible school.  We are excited to be back there again sharing Christ and encouraging our brothers and sisters there.  The team will be with us for a week and then Renan, the girls, and I will stay another week working on getting things going with the feeding center we hope to open by February 2016 and getting some details together for the scholarship program.  We are looking forward to getting these projects going to minister to the people and use as an outlet to share Christ.  The next post is our newsletter - you can read more there about the work the Lord has called us to in Honduras.

Our summer looks to be par for the course.  It kicks off next week with Vacation Bible School at our church.  We have been up there this past week helping get supplies ready for the teachers and doing a little decorating.  VBS is always such a fun week.  After that Mita will be visiting for a few days and then E will be off to camp.  Then we have a family reunion, and then R will be off to camp.  Then Honduras and before we know it we will be starting back to school.  Time flies when you’re having fun!
